Retrofit Access Grommet for Discreet Floor Access Solutions

Flat Lid

The retrofit access grommet provides a discreet, metal-based floor access point designed for situations where power and data sockets are not required. Intended for cavity floor installations, it is typically used when the final floor has already been fitted or where a poured finish has been applied.

In addition, a standard trimless access grommet is available for installations completed before the final floor is laid, while optional closers can be specified for 127mm and 193mm diameter lids to cover the access opening when not in use in areas subject to foot traffic.

Robust Lid and Galvanised Mounting Frame for Retrofit Installations

Trim flange

The system features a durable loose-lay lid manufactured from brass or stainless steel, available in 127mm, 193mm and 289mm diameters, with a made-to-order recess depth of 3mm to 30mm to align precisely with the finished floor level.

A trim flange is included as standard, which can be rebated by the installer for a flush appearance if required, and a range of finishes is available including satin brass, satin stainless steel, antique bronze, Jordan bronze, antique brass and RAL powder coating.

Supporting the assembly is a galvanised steel mounting frame designed for strength and stability in retrofit applications, featuring pre-drilled side fixing points for secure installation and on-site levelling. The frame includes a 40mm depth and a base cut-out to allow easy access to the floor void under the installation.

How do I decide which floor box to install?

Complete our floor box chooser to help you choose the perfect floor box for your project. It is quick and easy to use and allows you to explore all the possible features and options of our floor boxes.

How big should my floor box be for my plug sockets and data points?

This depends on the number of power plug sockets and data/ AV points you want. These are mounted in metal outlet plates within the floor box and these decide what size and shape of floor box you can have. See also Downloads/Floor box chooser.

    What finishes can you do?

Standard finishes are stainless steel and satin brass but we also do beautiful bespoke finishes such as antique brass, antique bronze and jordan bronze to match your interior décor and other accessories. See also Finishes section in Product solutions

Can we have bespoke shapes and sizes like parallelograms and match parquet timber flooring?

Yes. Cableduct specialises in making floor boxes in special shapes and sizes to suit our customers’ projects. See tailored solutions in Product solutions.

How much underfloor space do you need for your floor boxes?

Our base boxes can be 55mm, 65mm, 85mm or 120mm deep. 85mm and 120mm are more flexible and give most plug top and wiring space. 55mm and 65mm are shallow boxes and have limited plug top and wiring space. See also Downloads/Floor box chooser

How big does the cut-out in the floor need to be for my floor box?

Site conditions can vary but please see Downloads/Floor boxes for installation guides.
